The United States is sending approximately 750 more troops into the Middle East instantly, after an assault by pro-Iranian demonstrators about the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, the Pentagon said on December 31.

More troops by a quick response unit of this 82nd Airborne Division are ready to deploy during the upcoming few days, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said in a statement.

“This installation is a suitable and precautionary actions taken in response to increased threat levels against U.S. employees and centers, such as we seen in Baghdad now,” he explained. “The United States will safeguard our interests and people everywhere they’re located around the globe.”
