A brawl along with a string of clashes in many cities in Kazakhstan’s southern Zhambyl state have left eight people dead and scores wounded, Interior Minister Yerlan Turgumbayev stated on Saturday.
Authorities and the National Guard have the situation in check, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in a declaration, ordering the authorities to take action to keep calm in the cities.
The area in which the clashes happened is home to several members of their Dungan minority category, Muslims of Chinese ethnic origin.
Mr. Tokayev advocated a comprehensive investigation and educated security agencies to violate those dispersing cultural hate speech,”provocative rumours and disinformation”.
